Guillaume Brahimi 6 – 8 July
Renowned Sydney chef Guillaume Brahimi of Bennelong will be joining us at qualia to headline the first Great Barrier Feast event of 2012 over the weekend 6 - 8 July.
Brahimi's career in the kitchen originally began in France, before he decided to relocate abroad. It was Sydney, Australia that he chose as his new home and here he opened his first restaurant, Pond, before moving on to captain Bilson’s (later renamed Quay) at Circular Quay. In late 2001, Brahimi was awarded the prestigious and much sought after contract to take over the flagship restaurant at the Sydney Opera House, Bennelong. The restaurant underwent extensive refurbishment and opened later that year, renamed Guillaume at Bennelong, and by early 2002 was named by Conde Nast Traveller as one of the top 50 new restaurants in the world. And the accolades have continued to roll in since.
Brahimi is also actively involved in a number of charities, hosting several charity events at his restaurant over the years. When not in the kitchen, he indulges his other passion, Rugby - he has travelled with the French Rugby Team and is considered their very enthusiastic mascot! .
