Transport

A free shuttle bus service for guests and employees operates daily. As everything is in walking distance, travelling by foot is also a popular option (and the hills offer a good opportunity to get fit!). Depending on your position, you may be given access to company vehicles and golf buggies for work purposes only.

Essential Services on Hamilton Island

Medical Centre
Location: Across road from Resort Centre.
Points: Staffed by General Practitioners, bookings essential.

Pharmacy
Location: Front Street.
Facilities: All pharmaceutical items, toiletries.

Post Office
Location: Front Street.
Facilities: Mail can be addressed to your Department’s PO Box.

Bank Facilities
Automatic teller machines (ATMs) that accept cards from all banks are located at the Westpac in the Resort Centre, under the Robert Oatley College and at the Marina Tavern (Front Street). The Commonwealth Bank can also be accessed through the Post Office. Most outlets accept payment by credit card or have an Eftpos facility for purchases, whilst some also provide ‘cash out’.

Hair & Beauty Salon
Location: Across road from Resort Centre.

Phones and Internet

Most staff own a mobile phone and you are able to purchase pre-paid mobile phone offers on the island, if you are not already on an existing plan. All major telecommunication carriers service Hamilton Island.  
Connecting the phone at home depends on where you are living and is probably easiest to organise once you get here. Telstra can organise telephone lines to selected Staff Accommodation rooms.
If you are able to get a phone line in your room and want to access the Internet, you will still need to have an arrangement with an Internet service provider (e.g. Bigpond). Alternatively you could consider wireless Internet. Wireless internet is available at Lake Views.
Wireless internet is also available free of charge for staff at the Rainforest Cafe.

Mail

Your mail can be forwarded to the Post Office Box of your work department. Should you require this before arriving on island, please contact the Employment Office or your department and they will advise of the PO Box number suitable for your workplace.
