Weekend Schedule
Saturday 4 May
7.00am - parkrun, meet at the Shady Creek Lawns, opposite the Reef View Hotel
8.00am - After park run and trail running tips with Race Director, Steve Jackson, at Shady Creek Lawns
3.00pm - 5.00pm - Race Pack collection for all competitors at the Beach Pavilion
Sunday 5 May
6.30am - Race Pack collection for all competitors at the Beach Pavilion
6.30am - Cruise Whitsundays ferry departs Shute Harbour for competitors travelling to Hamilton Island on race day. Competitors can take advantage of free Cruise Whitsundays transfers between Port of Airlie/Shute Harbour and Hamilton Island Marina. Travel companions will also receive a 50% discount on their fare (one adult and two children)
7.10am - Cruise Whitsundays ferry arrives on Hamilton Island; please make your way to the bus at the top of the jetty for your transfer to Athlete Central, Beach Pavilion
7.40am - Half Marathon and Team Relay race briefing followed by race start at Athlete Central, Beach Pavilion
8.00am - Race start
10.30am - Junior race briefing, followed by race start
Monday 6 May
7.00am - Recovery run at the Sports Club
5.30pm - Recovery yoga at the Keel deck. This activity is free however bookings are essential through the Sports Club

Minimum Ages
Individual competitors must be a minimum of 16 years of age as of 5 May 2024.
Team competitors must be a minimum of 14 years old as at 5 May 2024.
Junior competitors must be aged 4 to 15 years as at 5 May 2024.

No qualification required. First 3 across the line. Open place getters are not eligible for age group prize.

Junior Race
A choice of three distances to compete in depending on ability and experience.
All junior runners to meet at the Beach Pavilion at 10.30am, followed by race start.
The kids distances are as follows:
- Option 1 –3km
- Option 2 –1.5km
- Option 3 – 500m
Pre Event Participation
You must ensure that you have trained sufficiently and are physically capable of completing the event within your current level of health and fitness. You must also ensure at all times during the event that you are performing well within your level of skill and ability for each of the three disciplines. To not abide by these conditions can create potentially dangerous situation for yourself and other competitors.
Competitor and Team Race Pack Collection
Race Pack collection for all competitors will take place on Saturday 4 May 2024 3.00pm - 5.00pm at the Beach Pavilion and Sunday 5 May 2024 – 6.30am at the Beach Pavilion. Please bring a printed copy of your receipt. It is compulsory for all athletes to register during this time. You must show identification (Driver's License, Passport etc).You will receive your race pack during this time which includes your Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon race singlet and other sponsor products.
Race Briefing / Race Start
There will be a race briefing prior to race start, held at the Beach Pavilion. The Full Length and Team Relay race briefing will be held at approximately 7.40am, followed by race start. The Junior race briefing will be held at 10.30am, followed by race start.
Rules
Any Athlete seen to be taking a shortcut during the event will be disqualified. Mp3 use is allowed but only one earphone is permitted to be worn to allow ease of communication with officials.
Withdrawals
Withdrawals prior to the event must be in writing via emailing
events@hamiltonisland.com.au. If you withdraw on race day before race start, please advise an Official.
The cancellation fee is 100% should you pull out the day of the race. If you withdraw during the race, please report to the Beach Pavilion and advise the Officials that you have withdrawn. The cancellation fee is 100% should you pull out during the race.
Changes to Entry
Changes can be made to your race entry until Friday 3 May 2023 via your event website login. Any changes after this date must be emailed to events@hamiltonisland.com.au.
Cruise Whitsundays Ferry Transfers
Competitors in the Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon can take advantage of free Cruise Whitsundays transfers between Shute Harbour and Hamilton Island Marina. Travel companions will also receive a 50% discount on their fare (one adult and two children).
All transfers must be booked through Cruise Whitsundays reservations by 5.00pm Saturday 4 May 2024, by calling Cruise Whitsundays reservations on 07 4846 7000, quoting the promotional code provided at time of entry and providing proof of entry.
If you are travelling to the island on the day of the event, you must travel on the 6.30am service from Shute Harbour (have your registration accessible for boarding):
- Competitors will be checked in as they board and will be provided with a wristband
- Competitors will need their wristband for the return trip
Medical Insurance
It is strongly advised that you take out personal medical insurance for the duration of your stay, especially for international competitors. Under the Australian Health Act, all non-Australians are not covered financially for personal injury. If you do have an accident you must pay for your own medical expenses. Therefore it is essential for you to obtain adequate personal medical insurance.

Cash prizes and products for the individual and open team relays will be announced at the event.
Medal Presentations
Presentations for the Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon will be held at the Beach Pavilion on Sunday 5 May 2024 from 11.30am. Lunch will be available for purchase 11.30am - 1.00pm.
