Pre-Schooler Holiday Activities

Holidaying with kids? Hamilton Island has top-notch services and heaps of family holiday activities to keep pre-school children entertained, inspired and content.

Choose from activities specifically designed for pre-schoolers and family-friendly holiday excursions, or take advantage of the Clownfish Kids Club and do your own thing for the day. Plus we’ll share some little-known secrets for active toddlers from Hamilton Island’s locals.

Holiday Activities for Pre-Schoolers

From building sandcastles to cuddling a koala, Hamilton Island guarantees Queensland family holiday fun for little ones.

Wildlife Park: The fun begins with koala cuddling at Hamilton Island’s Wildlife Park, where your toddler can also meet kangaroos, birds and the resident crocodile. Don’t miss the chance to start the day with Breakfast with the Koalas!

Mini Golf: Watch your pre-schooler tee off on their first round of mini golf, through a shady maze of plants and palms designed for all ages.

Bougainvillea Pool: There’s safe splashing in the Bougainvillea Pool, a tropical lagoon with plenty of shade, and pool toys and games to add to the fun.

Catseye Beach: Catseye Beach has gentle waves and golden sand for building sandcastles on the shore.

DVD Rental: For some quiet time, hire toddler-friendly toys, books or DVDs from the Clownfish childcare centre.

Fun for the Whole Family

With more than 40 family holiday activities to choose from, it’s a good idea to plan your holiday activity to-do list before you leave home!

Reef Viewer Glass-Bottom Boat: Kids too young to swim or snorkel don’t need to miss out on the magical underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef. They’ll love watching fish swim beneath their feet onboard the Reef Viewer Glass-Bottom Boat.

Whitehaven Beach: Take your toddler to Whitehaven Beach on nearby Whitsunday Island – the air-conditioned boat has covered indoor seating, the water is calm and the glorious beach is sheltered.

Kayaking: Paddle a kayak off Catseye Beach, with your little one aboard enjoying the ride through calm, shallow water.

Helicopter Flight: A helicopter joy flight over Hamilton Island is an experience pre-school children will never forget, with stunning views of the Whitsundays and Coral Sea.

Golf Buggies: Riding around in Hamilton Island’s signature golf buggies is everyone’s favourite activity, putting a fun spin on getting from A to B.

Local Family Secrets

We’ll let you into a couple of well-kept secrets, shared by young families lucky enough to call Hamilton Island home.

Feed the Ducks: Take your pre-schooler for a golf-buggy ride to Hamilton Island’s northernmost tip, Point Henning, to feed the friendly ducks who live there.

Beachcombing: Visit Catseye Beach at low tide to spot tiny sea snails, sea worms, crabs and other sea critters scuttling along the shoreline as waves gently lap the sand.
