Island Works

Hamilton Island is continually working to improve our infrastructure and guest experience. Each year we invest millions of dollars to upgrade facilities or to create exciting new concepts.

Current Projects

Staff Accommodation development at Palm Valley

In March, work will commence at Palm Valley to provide a new staff accommodation complex. Stage one will involve the construction of 84 rooms, designed similarly to the existing Azure staff accommodation apartments. Stage two includes further expansion of the staff precinct in that area including a 25 metre lap pool and common area opposite the sports oval to further enhance recreational facilities. The project is due for completion in September 2019.
These works will not impact the resort side of the island as it will be localised to Palm Valley only. Guests visiting Palm Valley activities such as the Go Karts, Quad Bikes for Kids, Off Road Adventure Tours or the Driving Range, plus Hamilton Island Air customers, may see truck or machinery movement however this will not have an impact on guest experience.

Renovation of the Convention Centre

Works are currently underway to complete a full renovation of the Hamilton Island Convention Centre. The building located behind the Reef View Hotel, will receive a new fit out including fresh carpet with revamped interior design work and updates to the exterior. It will also be rebuilt as per high cyclone strength category standards. Work is due to be completed by the end of May.

Hamilton Island Yacht Club Villas

Works on the Hamilton Island Yacht Club Villas is well underway, with the entire complex closed during this period of time. Guests visiting Hamilton Island should experience little disruption with most materials transported via helicopter into the complex, rather than requiring vehicle movement. Guests staying in the Edge Holiday Homes may have visibility of scaffolding and repair undertaken on the back row of Yacht Club Villas however noise disruption will be at a minimum. The Yacht Club Villas are scheduled to reopen in July 2018.
