These are the general terms that apply to most Hamilton Island Hotels and Holiday Homes reservations. Every now and then a variation to these may be applicable to special packages or offers. We recommend that you always check the Room or Package inclusions on your Booking Confirmation email to be certain of any specific details that apply to your unique booking.
Hamilton Island minimum age requirement
All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult such as a parent, step-parent, guardian who has parental rights and responsibilities for the under 18 year old guest. If a guest is found to be a person under the age of 18 and is not accompanied by a responsible adult, Hamilton Island Enterprises Limited (HIE) may cancel the guest's booking and ask them to leave the island immediately, with the full booking amount being forfeited to HIE under this condition.
Arrival details
For any guest arriving to stay overnight on Hamilton Island, we need your Arrival Details as soon as you have them so that we can do our best to have your room ready on time. We will email you closer to your holiday to obtain these details or you can email us on vacations@hamiltonisland.com.au
Check-in / Check-out
Check-in is 2pm. Check-out is 10am.
We recommend you pack a change of clothes, swimmers, book, sunscreen and sunglasses in your hand luggage so that you can enjoy some pool or beach-time while you wait for your room to be ready.
Flight bookings with Hamilton Island Holidays
If your flights have been booked and paid for directly with the Hamilton Island Holidays, your flight itinerary and e-tickets will be attached to your first confirmation email. It is important that you check your flight itinerary details and spelling of all passenger names as soon as you receive your e-tickets. If any information is incorrect please email us as soon as possible on flights@hamiltonisland.com.au.
Flight e-tickets
Please print your e-tickets and put them in a safe place, ready to take with you to the airport. You may be required to present this document upon check-in and airport security checks. Should you misplace your tickets, please email flights@hamiltonisland.com.au and request new copies.
Flight cancellations and changes
Flights purchased are subject to the terms and conditions of the airline, including applicable fees and surcharges for any amendments or cancellations. If you need to make any changes to your flights, please email us as soon as possible on flights@hamiltonisland.com.au.
If you have booked flights directly with the airline you will need to contact them for any amendments or cancellations.
Virgin Australia Velocity Points

Regional Local Packages
If you have booked our Regional Locals Package including return ferry transfers, please refer to the information below.
- Two return ferry transfers from Port of Airlie with Cruise Whitsundays are included in the package.
- If your booking is for two or more adults, all adult ferry transfers are included in the total package rate (ie. extra charges for the additional adult ferry transfers are included in your total package price).
- If your booking is for one adult and one child, the ferry transfer for one child is included as part of your package.
- If your booking is for one adult and two children, you will be required to purchase an additional ferry transfer for the second child (or any additional children). Children 12 years and under stay and eat free on Hamilton Island, however Cruise Whitsundays operates privately and therefore only two ferry tickets are included in this package.

Third party promotions and prizing
Hamilton Island room nights cannot be purchased for the purpose of third party promotions and prizing.
Travel Insurance
We recommend that you purchase travel insurance to cover cancellations, travel delays and other unforeseen incidents and accidents.
Room Rates
- Rates can be room-only or with breakfast included
- Rates are based on Single Share (one adult), Twin Share (two adults) or Family Share (two adults and two children 12 years or under staying in existing bedding)
- As long as the maximum room occupancy (see next section called Maximum Occupancy) is not exceeded, extra adults can be added at $60 per person per night in existing bedding or $45 per person per night in a rollaway bed. Additional adults need to be requested at the time of booking and rollaway beds are subject to availability
- Rates are quoted in AUD and include 10% GST
- Rates will increase from 1 April 2022.
Maximum Occupancy
- Garden View, Coral Sea View, Two Bedroom Terrace Suites rooms cater to a maximum of four (4) persons per room
- King Coral Sea View, Reef Suite and One Bedroom Terrace Suites cater to a maximum of two (2) persons per room
- Reef Family rooms and Presidential Suites cater to a maximum of six (6) persons per room
- All rooms can include children
- Cots are available on request for infants.

Kids Stay and Eat Free
- Is available to families staying at the Reef View hotel
- Stay Free – children 12 years and under can stay free in existing bedding

- Kids Eat free is for dine in only. (Takeaway/delivery or room service is not part of the program)
- Kids Eat free is only available when a minimum of one main adults’ meal is ordered.
Minimum Stay
- If booking on a regular nightly room rate, there is no minimum stay requirement at the Reef View hotel
- If you are booking during Festive Season, a 4 night minimum stay applies ONLY IF your booking includes the 31st December
- If you are booking on a special rate, package or offer, there will most likely have been a minimum stay requirement. Check your Booking Confirmation details for clarification.
Credit Card Fees
- A 3% fee for AMEX only applies and is non-refundable.

Buggies
If you are staying in a Holiday Home, the number of buggies included for each property varies based on property size and standard. Please refer to your specific property’s information page on www.hamiltonislandholidayhomes.com.au.
These are the general terms and conditions for buggies:
- A full and current driver’s license is required to obtain use of a Golf Buggy
- Please be aware that as a condition of use, a $0 hold will be placed on your credit card when collecting your buggy
- Any repairs or replacement costs incurred due to damage whilst in your care is your responsibility
- You have the option to purchase a $12 per day damage waiver to protect against accidental damage. If the buggy is damaged and the waiver has not been purchased then $1,500 is charged to your credit card until the damage and cost has been assessed
- Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads have set out the following condition for use for all buggies operating on Hamilton Island
- Authorised drivers must be a minimum age of 21 years old and hold a current driver’s license to drive the vehicle.
- A passenger less than six months old must be restrained in a rearward facing infant restraint, located in the front seat and secured to an engineered anchor point and fitted seatbelt.
- A passenger at least six months old, but less than four years old must be restrained in an approved forward facing child restraint and secured to an engineered anchor point and fitted seat belt.
- Children are not permitted to travel on the lap of another passenger.
- A passenger at least four years old, but less than seven years old must be restrained in an approved forward facing child restraint or by a seatbelt.
- A passenger four years old and above must not occupy the front passenger seating position if there is another passenger who is less than four years old.
Holiday Homes Additional General Terms
- Images on the Hamilton Island website are indicative of the Holiday Home you have booked. Please be aware that each property is subject to change visually based on the property owner replacing or changing contents or modifying their property.
- In the event that the property you have selected is removed from the Letting Pool, you will be notified and we will endeavour to offer you a suitable alternative. Should an alternative holiday property option not be suitable for the period of your stay, you may cancel the accommodation booking without penalty.
- Only Yacht Club Villa stays of five nights or more receive a complimentary mid-stay clean. If you would like to enquire about mid-stay cleans please contact Hamilton Island Holidays on 1800 370 811.
- Guests may not have parties, functions or events in their Holiday Home unless prior written permission has been obtained from Hamilton Island Holiday Homes on behalf of the property owner. If permission is granted, our Hamilton Island Events team can assist you with setup and catering, subject to their availability and at an additional cost.
- If your Holiday Home comes with Bonus Inclusions, these are based upon the combined cost of one buggy hire, one hour kayak hire for a family (2 adults/2 children) and two meals per day for two children under 12yrs of age eating at the participating Kids Eat Free restaurants – see Kids Stay and Eat Free. The exact value of inclusions will depend on the number of guests (adults and children) in the traveling party, number and type of non-motorised watercraft engaged in during any given day or per property. There is no limit on how many non-motorised watercraft Hamilton Island Holiday Homes guests choose to participate in during one day. Non-motorised watercraft are defined as Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Catamarans, Windsurfing and Snorkelling. Inclusions are available for guests are staying in Hamilton Island Holiday Homes managed properties only. Inclusions value is not transferable or refundable for cancellations or ‘no shows’ and cannot be substituted as a monetary value. For more information contact 1800 370 811.
