Half Marathon 21.1km, 10km, 5km, 1.5km, 500m
Charter Transfer Service
Depart Port of Airlie Marina at 7.30am, arrive at Hamilton Island Marina at 8.30am.
Depart Hamilton Island Marina, Cruise Whitsundays Jetty at 8:45am, boarding will commence at 8.30am.

Return time back to Hamilton Island will be determined on the last competitor, we anticipate approximately 3.00pm, then onto Port of Airlie by approximately 4.30pm, please note that this is not guaranteed.

- 21.1km - Competitors must be a minimum of 16 years old as at 31 December 2016
- 10km - Competitors must be a minimum of 12 years old as at 31 December 2016
- 5km - Competitors must be a minimum of 8 years old as at 31 December 2016
- 1.5km - Competitors must be 15 years or younger as at 31 December 2016
- 500m - Competitors must be 15 years or younger as at 31 December 2016
No qualification required. First 3 across the line.
Open place getters are not eligible for age group prize.

Pre Event Participation
You must ensure that you have trained sufficiently and are physically capable of completing the event within your current level of health and fitness. You must also ensure at all times during the event that you are performing well within your level of skill and ability for each of the three disciplines. To not abide by these conditions can create potentially dangerous situation for yourself and other competitors.
Registration for all competitors will take place on Saturday 25th June 2016, 4.00pm–6.00pm in the Reef Lounge, Reefview Hotel - Hamilton Island and Sunday 26th June 2016, 7.00am–7.20am at Cruise Whitsundays - Port of Airlie. Please bring a printed copy of your receipt. It is compulsory for all athletes to register during this time. You must show identification (Drivers License, Passport etc). You will receive your race pack during this time which includes your Great Whitehaven Beach race singlet and other sponsor products.
Race Briefing / Race Start
There will be a pre-race briefing at Whitehaven Beach on Sunday 26 June for all competitors directly before the start of their race.
Any athlete seen to be taking a shortcut during the event will be disqualified. iPod use is allowed but only one earphone is permitted to be worn to allow ease of communication with officials. This is a beach run and use of shoes are optional.
Withdrawals prior to the event must be in writing – email
email@example.com If you withdraw on race day before race start, please advise an Official. The cancellation fee is 100% should you pull out the day of the race. If you withdraw during the race, please report to and advise the Officials that you have withdrawn, returning your timing chip at this point. The cancellation fee is 100% should you pull out during the race.
Changes to Entry
Changes can be made until close of entries on Thursday 23rd of June at 5pm. Any changes after that time can be made at registration on Friday or on race morning.
Great Whitehaven Beach Run Ambassador, Steve Moneghetti
We are delighted to welcome Steve Moneghetti to Hamilton Island as our ambassador for the 2016 Great Whitehaven Beach Run. Over the course of the weekend you will have the opportunity to meet Steve at the various events listed below, plus take on the legend himself as he competes in the event on Sunday.

5.00pm ‘A meal with Mona’ – an informal Q&A with Steve Moneghetti held at Manta Ray

Cruise Whitsundays Ferry Transfers
Competitors, family members and spectators utilising Cruise Whitsunday’s ferry services to/from Hamilton Island Marina will receive a 50% discount on return transfers, when booking directly with Cruise Whitsundays, proof of entry will be required at time of booking.
Competitors, family members and spectators can utilise the Great Whitehaven Beach Run ferry service Sunday 26 June 2016, departing from Port of Airlie, the cost of this is included in your registration or spectator ticket. To secure your seat on this service, please select Port of Airlie ferry service on the first page of your registration. This service will depart Port of Airlie marina at 7:30am, arriving at Hamilton Island Marina at 8:25am, departing Hamilton Island Marina at 8:45, arriving at Whitehaven Beach at 9.30am.

It is strongly advised that you take out personal medical insurance for the duration of your stay, especially for international competitors. Under the Australian Health Act, all non-Australians are not covered financially for personal injury. If you do have an accident you must pay for your own medical expenses. Therefore it is essential for you to obtain adequate personal medical insurance.
