Passenger ferry services operate from the Hamilton Island Marina. The 60 minute ferry trip from Airlie Beach departs from two convenient locations at either Port Of Airlie Marina or Shute Harbour (just south of Airlie Beach), with more than a dozen services throughout the day.

Commercial Vessel Access
Hamilton Island Marina is a private marina and commercial marine operators are unable to access the marina to pick up and or drop off passengers. Hamilton Island has licensed a range of operators to conduct our marine activities for our guests who are based in the marina. Bareboat sailing operators conducting briefings and debriefs for their sailing holiday clients are welcome by prior approval. Please contact the marina office for further details.
Tour operators offering excursions to Whitehaven Beach, the Great Barrier Reef and other Whitsunday Islands also depart from the marina.
Hamilton Island Marina is a private facility and all visiting vessels need to contact the marina office to request entry and make berthing arrangements on VHF Channel 68, Phone: 07 4946 8353 during office hours 8:00am – 5:00pm. As a requirement of entry, you will need to supply a copy of your vessels insurance and registration.
Even if it is your first time or you are a regular customer, to make you stay effortless, our on-water marina concierge staff will guide you to your allocated berth and assist with lines at the dock. Our staff will provide you with an outline of marina and resort facilities available to you during your stay.
Casual Berthing is available on an hourly rate depending on the size of your vessel. You can take the opportunity to reprovision, fill water tanks, dispose of waste, have a meal or find out information for your next visit. Please contact marina office at least 30 minutes prior to your arrival to make arrangements. (Our operations staff will make every effort to accommodate your request where possible).
Overnight Berthing is available from 11:00am (day of arrival) to 10:00am (day of departure); you have access to fresh water and power at every berth. Should you require an earlier arrival or later departure please make arrangement with our marina staff. During high vessel traffic periods in the Whitsundays it may be necessary to make arrangement in-advance to secure a berth.
Extended Berthing is available on weekly, monthly, 6 monthly and annual agreements. Please contact our office for detailed berthing rates and availability.
Marina Berth Fees
- All berthing fees are required to be paid in advance.
- Casual berthing fees will be collected by the marina concierge on the dock.
- Long-term visitors need to complete the berthing agreement and pay the required fees.
- Hamilton Island Marina accepts Visa/Master Card; American Express (3.36% additional charges apply) or EFTPOS (no charges apply).

All vessels within the Marina must have current public liability insurance against liability for any loss or damage to property and for the death or injury to any person caused by, through or in connection with the vessel for an insured amount of at least $10,000,000 and comprehensive insurance to the replacement value of the vessel which includes full salvage cost and environmental clean-up with an insurer approved by the Marina Manager. A copy of that insurance policy and annual renewal of that policy must be provided to the Marina office upon request.
