Festive Fun on Hamilton Island Posted by Gemma Christie - 19 December 2014 Serious preparations are underway for the festive season on Hamilton Island as the Christmas countdown clock ticks. The resort island is getting ready to celebrate with thousands of holiday makers who have decided a Great Barrier Reef vacation is the ultimate way to celebrate this special time of year. Whether it’s snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, relaxing on world famous Whitehaven Beach, sipping champagne with a loved one, shucking fresh oysters, swimming with turtles, visiting a koala at the wildlife park, cruising on a catamaran or meeting Santa Claus, Hamilton Island is hoping to have everyone’s Christmas wish list items ticked. Yes, and that includes furry residents too! We all know holidays with kids can be challenging at times, but we assure you this is not the case when taking family vacations on Hamilton Island. Young guests will be spoilt for choice this silly season with the kid’s activity schedule extending its hours and taking family fun on Hamilton Island to completely new heights. The daily fun zone will also adopt different themes each day from mini Olympics to pirates Ahoy, super heroes to nature’s wonderland, masquerade to wet and wild, providing plenty of variety for everyone. Add to that outdoor and indoor movies and water walkers, coconut husking and palm weaving, roaming magicians and mini golf, sandcastle competitions and tropical trivia – we have no doubt little ones will be raving about their Christmas family holiday well into 2015! One adventure we know all the family will love over the festive season is a visit to WILD LIFE Hamilton Island. Our cute and cuddly locals have been gearing up for Christmas as well with treats, presents and decorations getting the animals into the festive spirit. The fun on island over Christmas isn’t simply for little ones. For the adults, if you can convince yourself to leave your stunning waterfront accommodation, the things to do on Hamilton Island are endless with over 60 activities to choose. From Great Barrier Reef experiences, scenic flights, playing a round of golf on neighbouring Dent Island, relaxing spa treatments, stand-up-paddle boarding, sunset kayaking or being entertained with live music in various outlets around the island. Once the sun sets, dining options are plentiful over the festive season with a choice of ten restaurants ranging from fine dining experiences to a casual pizza overlooking the marina. All restaurants will be open on Christmas Day offering bespoke festive menus which will include the freshest Whitsunday seafood to celebrate Christmas in true ‘Aussie’ fashion. Santa is also scheduled to make a special appearance at each venue throughout the course of the day. Be sure to book to make sure you secure your table! As Santa prepares his sleigh, carols by candle light will be held at the Outrigger lawn beneath the starry Whitsunday skies on Christmas Eve. There truly is no better place to go to sleep on Christmas Eve than on Hamilton Island at the edge of the Great Barrier Reef. From all the team on Hamilton Island, we wish you a safe and happy festive season. Enjoy paradise as you celebrate this special time of year with delicious food, wine and most of all, great company!
