Postcards from Paradise Posted by Lisa Hamilton - 11 April 2016 With the surname Hamilton, I’ve wanted to visit Hamilton Island (my namesake) for as long as I can remember. My parents actually went there before I was born and I grew up wearing a tourist kids t-shirt that said "HAMILTON". You could say this trip is long overdue! So, finally getting to fly into Hamilton Island was so exciting for me. It was so beautiful looking out the plane window and seeing that stunning turquoise water as we flew in. There’s something special about having cocktails on Catseye beach… It's never too early for cocktails on Hamilton Island! An icy jug of Pimm's was the perfect refreshment shared with friends and helped to keep us cool, in the warm weather. When you’re poolside it’s all about the service… The poolside service at qualia was excellent. You get to experience the ultimate in relaxation and don’t need to leave your sun lounge for anything, besides of course, when you choose to swim in the pool. The views were breathtaking and I particularly loved the complimentary ice cream service during the heat of the day. Pavilion living is so relaxing… I absolutely loved the open plan pavilion we stayed in. It was fantastic waking up with a view that overlooked the ocean. I found being on an island so relaxing. You really feel like you have the entire place to yourself. The only noises you hear are those from the wildlife and the occasional boat. It was just so beautifully peaceful. My favourite feature of the pavilion has to be the freestanding bathtub. It was the best way to end my day, relaxing and looking out to the water. I can’t forget to mention the plunge pool… Having our own private plunge pool was such a treat. Escaping the humidity by taking a dip was just so convenient. I also loved having a swim in the evening under the stars. It doesn't get much better than that! Whitehaven beach was amazing… It was even better than I had imagined. The sand was so blindingly white; it was hard to fathom. The beach was so beautifully isolated too and it felt like we were castaways. The photos don't do it justice! I can’t wait to go back… Driving through those towering front gates into qualia was like entering our own private oasis. The whole resort has such a beautiful ambience and relaxing nature.
