Stay Well on Hamilton Island

We’ve put extra measures in place to create a safe and healthy paradise for you to enjoy. Our Hamilton Island Stay Well Program has been implemented across the island to ensure the safety of our guests, staff and community.

Before you arrive
  • If you are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms such as runny nose, sore throat, fever, cough, tiredness, nausea, gastrointestinal symptoms, we request that you obtain a negative PCR result within 72-hours prior to your arrival
  • If you are symptom-free, we ask that you obtain a negative RAT result within 24-hours prior to your arrival
  • If you have just been tested and are self-isolating when you are due to arrive, or if you test COVID positive within 7 days of your arrival, please don’t travel to Hamilton Island. You can change your travel dates with no penalty (written evidence is required). Please call our Reservations team on 137 333 to make changes to your booking. If you have booked through a travel agent, you will need to contact them directly as they may have different terms and conditions
  • We have limited health resources on the island. If you test positive for COVID-19 while you are on Hamilton Island, you will need to quarantine on the island OR on the Whitsunday mainland, for 7 days
  • We have a limited supply of Rapid Antigen tests. We suggest bringing your own tests (two per person travelling) in case you are unable to purchase them while you are here
Protective Measures
  • Our Stay Well Program follows the COVID Safe Directives of the Queensland Chief Health Officer
  • There are hand sanitiser stations resort-wide indoors and outdoors
  • Masks and gloves are available upon request at all front desks and outlets
  • Everyone is encouraged to wear face coverings in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained
Social Distancing
  • We encourage social distancing at all of our onshore and offshore activities
Increased Cleaning and Sanitisation
  • We conduct frequent regular cleaning of public and high traffic areas
  • Guest rooms are meticulously cleaned, with special attention paid to high touch surfaces, bathrooms and floors
  • Our linen laundering processes follow the global WHO Safety Guidelines
Health Management
  • If you are displaying cold and flu symptoms whilst on the island, please think of our Island community and get tested
  •  COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT’s) are available at the pharmacy, located in the Marina Village. PCR tests are able to be conducts at the island’s Medical Centre
  • If you test positive to COVID-19 while you are on Hamilton Island you will have to isolate yourself for 7 days:
    • If you are a guest staying in a Hamilton Island Owned property please let our Guest Services team know so we can support you as best we can
    • If you are a crew member staying on board a vessel and do not have an isolation option available to you please call the Marina office on 07 4946 8353 so we can discuss your options with you

  • Quick and comprehensive case management protocol including the facilitation of island based isolation, testing and quarantine if required
  • We have specially trained cleaning staff on island available for post exposure cleaning if necessary
  • Our first responder, medical, safety and security staff have completed the Australian Department of Health COVID-19 Infection Control Training

  • Hamilton Island is a cashless environment, and we are unable to accept cash at any of our outlets. Cash deposits and withdrawals can be made using the Bank@Post service at the Australia Post office on Front Street, where cash can also be exchanged for pre-paid or top-up Mastercards
