A travel addicts guide to Hamilton Island: Don’t forget your camera! Posted by Harry Vick and Jordan Manhall - 22 February 2017 Visiting Hamilton Island was on our must-do list. We had seen photos and had found ourselves obsessing over the green tropical bushland and the fluorescent blues of the ocean and reefs. We couldn’t wait to see those idyllic hues with our own eyes! The stunning view from the Reef View Hotel. Escaping our cooler season in Adelaide and exploring the warmer tropics of Queensland was also a large part of our decision to make the trip. We saw so much potential for adventure and the opportunity to capture the island’s beauty. Conquering the hike to Passage Peak on Hamilton Island. Hamilton Island was incredible and one of the most beautiful places we have travelled to. The island feels as if it is in a world of its own, and it is! It’s far enough off the mainland to feel like you are really somewhere else, but feels like a small community, it’s very surreal. We were most impressed by the island’s organisation, which balanced the tourist vibe, while making it possible to feel like you had your own quiet and tranquil corner of the island. Enjoying a relaxed swim at one of the pools along Catseye Beach. The island is perfect for 'creating your own adventure' - as each day can be customised to how you want to spend it - and that’s exactly what we did. For instance, setting off on our own little adventure up the bushland trails to Passage Peak lookout was one of our favorite experiences. The views were stunning. Looking over the island and its surroundings really gave us a new perspective on exactly how big the island is and how much there was to explore! The view from the top at Passage Peak. One Tree Hill lookout also had stunning views. It was great for a sunset drink and made for a romantic setting. Undoubtedly our favorite place to dine was coca chu. We both rated the three course meal we had there, as one of the best meals we have ever had and we cannot give enough praise to this restaurant. Not only is the food incredible, so is the service and it has a beautiful beach side location. Diving into the crystal clear waters of Whitehaven Beach. Overall, there is nothing quite like being on Hamilton Island. It’s the gateway to world famous locations like the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the amazing Whitsunday Island and Whitehaven Beach. It's all there for every age and holiday style. Just be sure you grab it with both hands… when your not busy laying by the pool drinking cocktails that is. And don’t forget your camera!
